Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office Investigation and Pursuit
[Lancaster, OH, June 13th, 2024] Sheriff Alex Lape reports that on June 13th, 2024, undercover units were completing surveillance on a residence located at 1366 Sheridan Dr. While performing surveillance a known suspect exited the property carrying a shotgun. It was known to detectives that the suspect was not lawfully in possession of the shotgun. This information was relayed to a marked patrol unit who then attempted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle. The suspect then fled, refusing all signals and warnings to stop the vehicle. Baltimore Police were able to assist by deploying spike strips that resulted in the vehicle obtaining two flat tires. The vehicle proceeded back to 1366 Sheridan Dr. where the suspect parked the vehicle and surrendered to law enforcement. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was identified as Granville Gibson of Laurelville, OH. Granville Gibson was booked into the Fairfield County Jail for three counts of weapons under disability, failure to comply with order or signal of police officer and tampering with evidence.
The incident is continuing to be investigated by the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau with additional charges expected. Sheriff Lape would like to thank the Lancaster Police Department, Baltimore Police Department, the South-Central Ohio Major Crimes Unit, and Ohio State Highway Patrol for their assistance with this incident.
